Kansas man sentenced to 5 years for performing illegal autopsies

A Kansas man has been sentenced to 5 years and 9 months in jail after he pleaded responsible to wire fraud in connection to an operation by which he charged charges to carry out unlawful autopsies.

42-year-old Shawn Lynn Parcells used his enterprise Nationwide Post-mortem Providers LLC, to cost charges to over 350 shoppers and was capable of achieve $1,166,00, courtroom paperwork detailed.

Parcells pleaded responsible to the case in Could, which detailed how he used faux credentials to persuade shoppers that he was certified to conduct the autopsies, the Division of Justice (DOJ) stated.

In a single incident, Parcells obtained $5,000 for he emailed a replica of a remaining report that appeared as if he had written it, however no pathologist took half within the examination, the DOJ stated.

US Lawyer Duston Slinkard stated, “It is troubling every time criminals deceptively current themselves as professionals to commit fraud on unwitting victims, however the truth that Parcells’ schemes have been predicated upon exploiting the grief and bereavement of others makes his act a very predatory crime.”
